Kid-Friendly Spots: Portland, Oregon

Welcome to PORTLANDIA!

Portland is known for hipsters, roses, good brews and all things weird. #keepportlandweird

Well friends, Portland is also an amazing kid friendly place!

Start your day off at Slappy Cakes! The kids will have fun making their own pancakes! Not in the mood for pancakes?? Head to Pips Original for some amazing donuts! Trust me you won’t want to miss out on these, but be prepared for a line if you go on a Saturday morning!

For fun activities for the kids, head to OMSI, the Children’s Museum or the Oregon Zoo. OMSI is a favorite of ours, especially on a rainy day. There is something there for all ages, and will keep the adults just as entertained!

If you are looking for something a little more low-key, head to the waterfront and take a stroll along the river. Pioneer Square has some great shopping and just blocks away is the Tom McCall Waterfront park! For a bite to eat, head to a local food cart. With so many options around the area, you’ll be able to easily find something for everyone! (food carts:  SW 6th and Yamhill)

Head across the bridge to Vancouver, WA for some afternoon coffee at Boomerang Cafe. The coffee shop has a treehouse and a play area for the kids, while you take a much-needed break! Just down the road from Boomerang Cafe is the Downtown Vancouver Public Library. On the 3rd floor, you will find an amazing kid’s play area for learning adventures (ages 0-7).

For dinner head down to Warehouse 23 or BEACHES for a great meal. You’ll be happy to know that by eating there you’re supporting a company who supports local schools, and the food and service are always great!

If you happen to be in the area on a nice day, head back to the Portland side and eat on a house boat! Island Cafe has great food with an even better view.

If you’re in the mood for Pizza, there is a little food cart in Vancouver called La Sorrentina serving the best pizza in the area!

Head back to Portland and be sure to find a Salt N Straw for your afternoon dessert! With crazy ice cream flavors that are sure to delight, it’s a must stop in Portland!

Portland is full of good food, great drinks, and family fun!
