If you follow me on social media, you already know that I absolutely love Dunkin’ (formerly Dunkin’ Donuts). So, when Dunkin’ added a new, modern store, I was sure to check it out. It was like walking into a coffee shop that you would see in a hip, downtown city with a newer edge. Read on to find out what I loved about Dunkin’s new concept.
Their Name
You may have noticed that I have referred to Dunkin’ Donuts as Dunkin’. That’s not a mistake – Dunkin’ Donuts shortened their name and it even says “Dunkin'” on their building.
Drinks on Tap
With just a pull of a handle, your coffee is served. From Nitro to Green Tea, Dunkin’s drinks are now on display on tap. In a flash, the baristas create your ready-to-order drink and you can be on your way. Plus, everything tastes better on tap, right?
Nitro
The new Dunkin’ in Chandler, Arizona is the only store in Arizona with Nitro, and it’s so good that you can drink it straight – no cream or sugar needed. While I usually only add 1 cream, no sugar to my coffee anyways, I spoke to others who are diehard sugar and cream addicts, however, still loved the smooth taste of Nitro black.
Donut Display at the Front
As a mom, this is the one thing that I loved the most about the new Dunkin’ concept. In the older designed store, I have to pick up my son and point to the donuts behind the counter to try to figure out which one he wants. After a few minutes of “that one?” “no, that one” “the chocolate one?” “no, not that chocolate one, that one.”, he finally settles on a donut. This way, he can just go to the donut window, point directly to which one he wants, get the donut, and eat it, in the same amount of time it took him to pick out a donut before.
Chargers on Every Table
With the newer concept, there are a variety of tables of all sizes, plus the store had ample lighting, however, they nailed the one thing that I look for in coffee shops as soon as I walk in the door – chargers. Since I work remotely, walking into a coffee shop in hope that the two tables by the single outlet are open is a reality. If I see the person at the prime charging table start to leave, I’ll watch them like a hawk and run over to snag the seat and outlet. Thankfully, I won’t have that issue at the new Dunkin’ store, since there are outlets with USB chargers on each table. Bonus for those who do work or schoolwork in public places (and the Wi-Fi is great!)
Not only is the modernized Dunkin’ what we need right now, but the baristas and staff have a little more pep than normal. Maybe it’s because the store is bright and airy, but it gives you that “I WILL have a good day” feeling. Also, if you don’t have the time to go inside (or are still wearing your pajama pants), there is a drive-thru.
Do you want to check out Arizona’s first “Next Generation” Dunkin’ Donuts? Stop by the new store at 4225 S. Gilbert Rd., Chandler (on Gilbert Rd. between Chandler Heights and Ocotillo). And, be nice to your barista! After making my own latte, they deserve more credit!
What do you look for in a donut or coffee shop to keep you coming back?
Great post! I will definitely be visiting my local Dunkin’ soon. I think the iimprovements make me feel like they are in alignment with my modern on the go lifestyle and more accessible & kid friendly than Starbucks.
I love how kid-friendly Dunkin’ is, and can’t wait to see more of their stores become more modern! Thank you for reading!
