Everyone needs a little staycation every now and again. So, that is what we did. With San Diego being a tourist town, there are many choices as to where to stay and what to do, however we decided on San Diego Mission Bay Resort. Not only is San Diego Mission Bay Resort a great choice for a staycation, but it is accommodating for out-of-towners looking for an amazing, family-friendly place to stay.

From the time we arrived, the hotel front desk staff were very polite, allowing us to swim and use the amenities although our check in time was later. The room was large and ours overlooked the bay, so the patio became my go-to area. However, we spent most of the time at the pool. With a large, heated pool, a children’s pool, and 2 hot tubs, along with day beds and chairs, it was the perfect chill spot. And, we were lucky as to the fact that only a few other people were there.

After spending time at the pool, we got ready in our room and ate at the on-site restaurant. It was DELICIOUS! The portions were large, and the view was amazing. Plus, I almost never get desserts from restaurants, but since this one exceeded my expectations, so had to add it and wasn’t disappointed.

Also, for those who book hotels based on fitness rooms, theirs had Peloton bikes! So, you can put in your leaderboard name and continue your rides even while away from home. If being active is important on vacation, there are also bike activities, a running path, and water sports right outside the hotel, in addition to daily yoga.
However, if you are like me, there is an onsite coffee shop to fuel and refuel during the morning, so you can sip your coffee while walking along the bay.
Overall, Mission Bay Resort is recommended, not only by us, but has been voted as one of the best family hotels in the US. Enjoy San Diego!
