The Story Box: Make Reading Fun!

We were excited to do this review for a complimentary The Story Box to test out! This review also includes affiliate links.

I may be a tired mom at the end of the day, but one thing I try to do every night is read my 4-year-old a book. Sometimes it’s the same book for a few nights in a row and sometimes he likes to change it up, however I value that time together. It’s amazing how something like a book can enlighten a little one and create memories between the two of us.

There are many subscription boxes out there, however The Story Box is both educational and fun! I received the Picture Books Package, which included 2 hardcover books and a parent guide, great for ages 2 1/2 to 6. They also have other boxes, which include board books for ages 0 to 2 1/2 and a family package (combination of the books).

My son gets so excited to get mail, so when he saw his box, he was ecstatic. The books were carefully placed in the box and was lined with pretty tissue paper, which made it like a “present”. He was very excited to open it up and see two books!

We received Spy Guy and Waddles, along with a parent guide. The parent guide enables you to turn the book into more of an engaging reading experience. According to the website, “The tips in the parent guide will help you use your new books to capitalize on the language opportunities presented in each book and facilitate pre-literacy skills.” Considering The Story Box was curated by a speech-language pathologist, it makes sense!

The best part of all is that my son absolutely loved the books! They were perfect for his age and the activities encouraged him to look further than just the words. Plus, being hardcover, they will last!

The Spy Guy is valued at $16.99 and Waddles is valued at $15.99, however the subscription box is only $19.99/month for both books and parent guide, plus FREE shipping!

“There’s one more really great thing you should know about The Story Box.  They purchase and donate books and other educational materials to benefit children with disabilities and children from low-income families.  Each and every subscriber helps them contribute to this cause.”
