Nothing makes you feel older than when your child outgrows their car seat. It’s inevitable…kids grow up, but that step from infant car seat to convertible car seat to booster car seat makes it feel like you are in a time machine that is stuck on a high speed of fast forward.

Considering we have two vehicles, we have researched our share of car seats. From LATCH systems to crash test ratings, safety is a priority. Plus, since we take a lot of road trips, comfortability is very important as well. Thank you, internet research and word of mouth!

Then, on a trip to a baby store with no intention of buying a new car seat is when I saw it…the ultimate road trip car seat. It would be my son’s first “big kid” car seat, which of course, made my anxiety go crazy…but it was so perfect. From large snack and cup holders to footrest, high on the safety meters and comfortable…what more could we ask for? I HAD to buy it, so I purchased it…the Chicco® KidFit Zip 2-in-1 Booster Car Seat.

He loves the seat, I love the seat…it’s perfect. However, while checking for car seat safety, I never considered checking the obvious thing for safety…my vehicle! Quickly after learning about Cars.com Car Seat Safety Check, I checked out my vehicle’s stats. Thankfully, it received ‘B’s’ across the board, however, I couldn’t believe it that I never considered checking the safety of the vehicle that I was driving for the past couple years.
